Goodbye Companion

Last night I said goodbye to a faithful companion. The steady rain that was falling I said my final goodbye was fitting.

When the man came, the one who was there to buy her, there was only the slightest hint of rain. As we went further and further into the process he checked her over inside and out and the rain started to pick up. Lightly at first and then harder and faster. A flash of lightning lit up the sky and thundered followed as the man confirmed what we already knew. She was broken and would not last much longer. He could understand why we wanted to dispose of her. The process was coming to an end. We sought shelter from the pelting rain under a giant tree. The paperwork and money were exchanged. She was no longer mine.

This morning I took one last look at her as I silently drove past her. Four and half years we spent together. When I come home she’ll be gone forever.

This was the first car I ever bought and paid for myself. So many trips were had in this car. Faithfully she took me to work every day until Tuesday. Broke down on my way home. I knew it wouldn’t last long. It was only a matter of time before this happened. She was a rental car after all. We all know how people treat rental cars. It’s not my car so why should I care philosophy. So I’m glad I got the 60k miles out of her that I did.
My favorite car that I had right out of high school was a little ’91 I think, Toyota Celica. Bright red and peek a boo eyes. I didn’t appreciate her as much at the time, but she was definitely fun! Looking forward to bringing something new home tonight! Goodbye #SilverFox

Vacation Planning

Vacation! I’m almost ashamed to say that my vacation dreaming/planning has turned into a girl’s getaway. Almost sorry. Ok, I’m not. I tried convincing Bill to go on a cruise. He wasn’t having it, which ok, that’s fine. I also asked the girls what they thought about a cruise and they said no way, or at least Sophia did. It scares her. So ok, my family isn’t going to be the cruising type. That’s ok with me. I’ll take a cruise by myself! Which is exactly what I’m planning. Ok, not exactly alone, wouldn’t really do that.

Momstercation…or at least that’s what I’m calling it. Cruising with my sister and mother next year in April! I can’t wait, it’s going to be so much fun. We will be going on a 4 night Baja Mexico cruise. Stopping in Catalina and Ensenada. I had hoped to do the 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise however my sister us unable to get away for that many days/nights. She doesn’t want to leave the kids at home that long and it’s not fair for her fiancĂ© to take that much time off of work and not get to join in on the fun! I get it, I might feel a bit guilty too. We are still going to have a blast! The planning has begun and the deposit is made!

I’ve been cruising before, just once. Had a great time, so I’m looking forward to it again. It was a long time ago though, I was not long out of high school. This time will be even better. Especially because we are going all out and getting a “grand suite.” Should  be plenty of room for the 3 of us with a beautiful ocean view and generously sized balcony. We are planning on some shore excursions for Catalina. We are hoping to go kayaking and snorkeling. I have a fascination with fish so I’m very excited for that. The water is supposed to be pretty cold this time of year, but they provide wet suits so it will be worth it!

I still would like to do go on some kind of vacation/getaway with the girls. I know they love the beach and getting out and having fun, but they are also so much like their dad. They like their gadgets and being inside too! We’ll figure something out and have some fun. At least for the summer we have some things planned. A couple of trips back to the water park and to the beach and just hanging out at home with the pool.

Here’s to cruising and having fun!

I did it. It’s the last week of community college! Wait..what? Yes, I’m still here! I graduated and got my associates in December 2013, BUT I still had some classes I needed to take to transfer to Cal State Channel Islands (CSUCI). I was accepted into the online business program a few weeks ago. I’m very excited and looking forward to finally finishing what I started 10 years ago. (GAH! 10 years already since I’ve been out of high school) I start in the fall and should be done early 2017. I’ve contemplated getting my masters but I don’t know. Not sure on that. I guess I’ll have to see where I’m at in life at the time.

Will give it again to hard work and not giving up!

Still at It

I’m at the halfway point of my 4 week workout….It’s only taken me a month to do it! I’m chugging along. The other day I was quite sore and had to take an extra couple of days of rest. It’s a good thing though. I know it’s working and I’m going to keep at it. Once I finish I’m going to jump right back in and do it again. Start back at week one. I think I’ve found something that will really work for me. I’ve done gyms and I’ve tried walking and I haven’t stuck with it. There are a couple of exercise machines I’d love to get but I don’t have space for them. I’ll put that on the list of things I want when we can rent or own a home one day! Have my own little exercise area. I’ll even take garage space at an apartment, which unfortunately we don’t have right now.

But anyway, I’m really liking Fitness Blender. They have so many videos to choose from and different plans if you need some guidance. They’ve really managed to create something great for all fitness levels. I love to recommend things that I have tried. I don’t want to push things that I’ve heard this and that about, I want to try it and let other people know about it if I believe in it and it works. And I know this works. I can feel it working. I know it’s going to be a long process to get to where I want to be and I know I can get there with the help of this website and hard work for my own part.

So here’s to hard work and not giving up!
