Fancy Dinner Party

The other night we, my sister and I, decided to throw my niece a "Fancy Dinner Party." Ariana and I had talked about it a month ago or close to and we said we could have a nice dinner and dress up and do our hair and make-up. So we did it. We got "fancy" and had a coursed meal and just had fun. It was a little difficult as we were cooking and serving ourselves. I tried to get Bill and Chris to serve us since they didn't dress "fancy" but no luck. I was going to make them sit somewhere else too, but in the end they sat with us in their "normal" clothes.

We started our meal with a soup and salad course. We then had our main course which consisted of grilled chicken topped with a ricotta and cream cheese sauce and topped with bacon with homemade macoroni and cheese and broccoli. We then had dessert, brownie cups and ice cream with chocolate syrup. It was very good and filling. We will probably do something simpler next time becuase we were having to cook and serve and try to enjoy ourselves too.

We spruced things up with items from the dollar store. Plastic wine glasses, filled with cider of course. Perfect for kids. We also picked up some plastic plates and dishes as well as some nice paper plates. I think we did pretty well. Here are some pictures. Can't wait to do it again!

Christmas

Christmas came and went. As always I feel like I'm preparing for it when it starts getting closer and I've got so much to do and then it's gone in a flash. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way. I tend to stress about what I'm buying for Christmas and who I need to buy for and what money I have to spend. All that was the same this year except I was actually done with my shopping and wrapping in a timely manner. I wasn't still doing presents Christmas morning like I did last year. It was nice and I should try getting all of my stuff done before the rush at the stores. It was so much nicer to be able to just relax Christmas Eve....ok well mostly. Bill and I did have one present that we had to wait until everyone was asleep to wrap and bring downstairs. Note that we did have it already. We'd had it for almost a month sitting in our room hidden!

This year was our first taste of a split Christmas. The last couple of years Bill has gone and spent Christmas with his family including getting up early and being there with his kids when they open presents and then I'd see him late Christmas night and we'd open our presents from each other together. This year was different. He and I opened gifts with my family Christmas morning and then we both went and picked up his girls and spent time with his family.
It was nice because over the last few months I've spent more time with his family and it was    great to be able to spend some of the holiday with them and be a part of what they do.

We had Christmas dinner with my family. We had the whole bunch there except for my Aunt and Uncle and two cousins, CJ and AJ. We missed them dearly, would've loved to have them there but with AJ still going through his Chemo and people being sick it wasn't worth risking his health. We all love each other and understand, we'd rather have him healthy.

This was baby Aiden's first Christmas. He didn't know what was going on but that's ok. His grandmother, Chris, his father's mother, her husband and Chris' brother came down and had Christmas dinner with our family.

It was really nice having everyone there and spending Christmas the way we did. Next Christmas we will switch it up. Can't wait!

I can't forget the wonderful present Bill gave me. Of course all I really want his him. He's all I really need. But to my surprise and delight I opened up this little brown box and found this. A beautiful necklace and earring set. Sapphires that are absolutely stunning! They really are gorgeous and my favorite color too. Although he can't recall that this was my favorite color he said he chose them because the color would look beautiful on me. I'll take that any day! What a great loving guy I have!

Weight Loss Contest

I’m so bad. I never follow through with exercise plans I start. It’s really terrible. That said, I’m starting a new one. Not really an exercise plan but a contest with some people at work. Big money is on the line here and I plan to take it! It’s essentially a 3 month weight loss contest where the winner will be decided by percentage of weight lost. This is good because it gives everyone a fair chance.

I’ve actually been pretty good for the most part sticking to my plan. Which is hopefully in the end going to help me start eating better in general and sticking to an appropriate portion size, which I think is the main problem in America! Not to say I don’t indulge, because I do. I think everyone should! Dessert or a cheeseburger here and there. A margarita…. It’s all about moderation ;)

Working out, If I dare call it that, has improved as well. I’ve been walking and occasionally some jogging and jump roping. Jump roping is hard, let me tell you! After the first day I couldn’t walk for five!! It’s good though. Now all I need to do is find a new sports bra with more support so I don’t give myself a black eye or hurt my precious tatas! lol

Of course I do this not only for the money, okay mostly for the money, but for myself, because thankfully I have a loving boyfriend (Bill) that loves me just the way I am. (I’ve been on the opposite end of that) No one wants to feel uncomfortable in their own skin. Bill makes me feel good about myself but I still have my issues and want to get to that place where I’m comfortable at all times. I’m hoping this contest will put me on the right track and kick start me into what I feel I should be doing.

Before I go, I want to say that I’ve been using this app on my phone, myfitnesspal, I can also track progress on my computer as well,  myfitnesspal.com

Baby Aiden

This is a little late, baby Aiden is now almost 3 weeks old. He was born on November 4. Not my baby! ha! This my new nephew. He joins older sister Ariana, whom I've mentioned before. Love them both as if they were mine! It almost gives you baby fever....almost! I do want children, the time just isn't right just yet. It will come though. It seems to be a year for babies, at least as far as I'm concerned. So many people that I know are having babies. Lots of women at work too! I feel everywhere I look women are pregnant. Now this could be just that because someone in my everyday life was prego that I noticed it more, because of course millions of women are pregnant at all times. It's just weird that I noticed it.
Anyway, back to my sweet little nephew! I'm lucky I get to see him everyday. I can't get enough of him! He has that baby smell, it's great! Lol...I'm excited to see him grow and watch the person come out in him. Right now he's still at the sleep, eat, sleep, eat stage! It will be cool to watch him grow and realize he has motor functions and what not. This new little person in the world, what a joy.
 Aiden and his big sister!

Of course a couple of pictures of Aiden with his favorite auntie!!

Halloween!!

Yay for Halloween! Always a good time. Although I'm personally not doing anything. Although I did get to dress up for work, for once, as I mentioned before. I'm mad at myself for waiting until the last minute to finish my costume. Thankfully Bill was here to help me, it was a little harder than i though making the corset, BUT we did it, really Bill did all the work. I should've used a different shirt but I had to match! It turned out all right, but it could've been better, but I was happy overall.

I will say that the 3 of us in my department that dressed up came in second place in the costume contest. We went in as a group of pirates, I was the wench! We had a treasure chest and everything as you can see in the pictures! It was fun, I didn't think I'd enjoy participating at work that much! lol!

I have only a couple of pictures, another thing I'm annoyed at myself for, I didn't take any pictures and I should've so here's what I have. The cupcakes took up most of my time! Should've spent more on my costume and pictures ;) Also had to throw one in there of my beautiful niece!

YES, my co-workers costumes were awesome!! much better than mine!

oh...and here are the cupcakes!

Some People

Some people need to talk to their therapist about their god complex and stop being so hypocritical. It's ok for you to do one thing but not someone else. You are going to get mad at something but yet you do exactly the same thing, worse yet, is that you do it all the time, whereas someone else did it once. People like that drive me crazy! And of course half the time they don't realize or are in denial about it. Have a nice look in the mirror.

And tell me this, is a person really "classy" if they have to constantly tell people how classy they are? Really? Ya, no, I don't think it works that way. "I don't do blah blah blah cause I'm classy." No, I don't think so. I'd say you're an idiot. Now maybe that's not very "classy" of me. HA! I thought someone who was "classy" did it by their actions. Someone who has to continue to say it out loud is really only trying to convince themselves. I see you as anything but classy if you have to continue to remind people. Get over yourself already.

I feel better! ;)

Love my cartoons!

What can I say, I love my adult cartoons! I’ll admit it, I fall asleep to Cartoon Network every night! There is a show, Bob’s Burgers, it’s new to me and it’s absolutely hilarious. I find myself having to turn the television down so I can’t hear it enough to make out what they are saying, otherwise I’m not going to sleep and I’ll keep turning over to see what’s going on. Of course this happens because I have to have the sound of the TV on. I did this last night! I was cracking up at the episode on. It was already past the time I would like to be asleep and of course I couldn’t help myself. Funny how that always happens! On a Saturday night I’ll fall asleep at 8 on occasion but I can’t seem to do that on work night, that’s just not right! Anyway, I’m endorsing this show, it’s great. Never too old for cartoons!

Halloween is coming! Yay!

I’m excited this year for Halloween! I’m always excited for Halloween. Who doesn’t like dressing up!! Not sure anyone I know will be getting together for Halloween this year, BUT, I’m looking forward to being able to dress up this year. My department, or most of us at least, will be dressing in theme. Pirates, because pirates are awesome! I’m in the midst of making my costume! I’ve done half of it so far. My costume will be more like a pirate wench. I found a really easy tutorial on someone’s blog for a “circle skirt.” Super simple and didn’t take me all that much time to make. The next step which I’ll probably do next weekend is the corset. I have an old dress that I’m going to use to make the top with the corset. Going to make it out of duct tape. Duct tape is great for anything. I found another tutorial for this corset this time on instructables.com (love this website btw.) I have leftover pieces from the dress that I may make into a sash or bandana. I hope it turns out as good as it is in my head. So far the skirt looks good, so I’m hopeful. I’ll definitely have pictures once it’s done. I haven’t decided if I want to wear this blonde wig I have just because. We’ll see!

Baby Aiden

This past Saturday was my sister's baby shower. She hasn't been very vocal of the fact that she's pregnant. I don't think it's for any particular reason other than she's not necessarily a public person flaunting her biz everywhere! I'll go ahead and share it for her! ;)
The baby shower was thrown by her boyfriends parents, they did a great job. Great food and always good times. The baby is almost here; due at the end of next month; October 27th to be exact. The day after my dad's birthday (26th). Wouldn't it be cool if he shared a birthday with Papi (That is what this grandpa goes by).
Little Aiden will be joining big sister Ariana who is now 7! She's very excited. She'll be a great big sister. Here are some photos from the baby shower. Not the best but it's documented and that's all I care about, something we can show Aiden when he's older!

CAN'T WAIT TO MEET BABY AIDEN WHEN HE COMES NEXT MONTH! I'LL BE AUNTY TIMES 2!!
